Art Wilson Dives Into California's Problems

Writing in the Pasadena Star-News, Wilson:

"Somehow, I don't think former Santa Anita president Ron Charles is second-guessing his decision to resign last year."

"According to sources who prefer to remain anonymous because they are not authorized to speak on the subject, Santa Anita officials knew early on in meet they were in trouble and tried to add a low-takeout exotic bet to their wagering menu, only to be rebuffed by the Thoroughbred Owners of California and the California Horse Racing Board"

Keep up the good work Mr Wilson !!!
Too bad the "journalists" at the DRF can not or will not report the catastrophe to California racing created by the incompetence of the CHRB/TOC. They have already piddled away over $100M in business in only 2 plus months with their takeout hikes and short field/horrible product policys.
Not sure I'm willing to give Santa Anita's Mr Haines a pass on what has happened. It reads as though he was one of the lunatics that promoted the recent change to five day a week racing for the rest of the meet. This was the final slap in the face for many fans that were already disgusted by the declining field size numbers. Notice the handle was under $2M both Wed. and Thurs. this week? I am over 50 years old and can not recall anything close to the disaster we are seeing at the formwer Great Race Place.
